How does it all work?
Liquid Lipo or deoxycholic acid is a bile acid that dissolves fat cells. These bile acids are normally produced by liver and secreted by the gallbladder to digest fat in the gut, so this is something that your body produces anyway. Your body then metabolizes the dissolved cells and disposes of them in your gut. Ultimate Contour works by using percussive waves of ultrasound to essentially traumatize the fat cells. The Ultimate Contour uses ultrasound and allows us to direct our treatment where we want fat cells destroyed. Because ultrasound uses sound waves this allows us to sculpt your body. Who are good candidates for this treatment?
Almost everyone is a good candidate for this procedure. There are exceptions, of course. Any patient with open wounds or prone to developing skin infections should not consider this procedure. Patients undergoing chemotherapy would not be good candidates. While not an absolute contraindication, patients on blood thinners or patients with multiple chronic medical conditions, including uncontrolled diabetes, should proceed with care as the risk for complications is higher. Patients with significant weight fluctuations will also want to wait until they are at a consistent weight that they feel confident they can maintain. With Liquid Lipo, the fat cells are permanently destroyed, so if you gain a significant amount of weight, fat deposition and distribution may be affected. There is the risk that as you gain weight the remaining fat cells will enlarge unevenly. This is where Ultimate Contour can help! Because it is a mechanical method of fat cell destruction, we can smooth out those areas.
